FAQ's

Helpful answers to make your trip smoother.

At what altitude do we fly?

The advantage of hot air balloon flight compared to other aerial transport methods is the ability to fly as low as one meter above the ground, or as high as over 1,000 meters to get a full view of the landscape! Ultimately, flights depend as much on the current weather conditions as on the passengers’ desires and their courage!

When do the flights take place?

Generally early in the morning when we have very good weather conditions.

What is the duration of the flight?

The flight lasts about one hour on average. The entire experience can take around 5 hours, including balloon inflation maneuvers, the actual flight, a traditional Berber breakfast upon landing — very important — and the 4x4 return with the ground crew. The return time varies depending on the distance covered during the flight. And of course, don’t forget our camel excursion!

What is the temperature like during the flight?

It’s roughly the same as on the ground! Since the balloon flies with the wind, there is no draft inside the basket.

What can we see during the flight?

The fantastic landscape of the desert and the giant snow-covered Atlas Mountains. Keep in mind that each flight is unique because a hot air balloon cannot be steered... the wind chooses to show you the beauty of nature!

Can you get airsick?

No, since the balloon is not tethered to the ground (like a bridge or ladder, for example), the feeling of dizziness doesn’t occur! During the flight, the basket is very stable and there is no swinging. You feel very comfortable from takeoff.

Heart problems?

If it’s a love problem, nothing beats a hot air balloon flight to feel as happy as a bird in flight... If it’s a heart condition and you want to fly over the mountains, it’s best to consult your doctor first.

Why is it sometimes not possible to fly even when the weather looks good?

Because wind speed — which is not always the same on the ground as in the air — doesn’t always allow it. Our pilots must take into account wind conditions at higher altitudes.

Why is there only one flight per day?

Since a hot air balloon moves with the wind, the pilot only controls the altitude by adjusting the heat inside the envelope using burners. He needs stable air, mild outside temperatures, and light winds. The only time when all these conditions are usually met is about half an hour after sunrise — fortunately, it’s also one of the most beautiful moments of the day!

Where do we take off from?

The pilot chooses the takeoff site based on wind direction (to avoid restricted areas and to make the flight as interesting as possible). In general, the takeoff location is north of the palm grove, between the Tensift River and the Jbilet Mountains, offering stunning views of the desert and the High Atlas Mountains.

Can we sit in the basket during the flight?

No, all passengers remain standing throughout the entire flight, and must crouch during landing.

How many passengers per basket?

We have baskets that can carry between 4 and 16 passengers.
